Flying to you through YouTube

Saturday, November 25, 2006

I was surfing YouTube today and stumbled across this. As YouTube begins to gain more popularity and have access to hundreds of millions of people, we will definitely see more of this type of advertising. YouTube and other similar websites are really changing the face of marketing and advertising and for consumers like us, there's nothing better than having access to globalisation enabled, brainwashing, subliminal messages, embedded in these ads. At the click of a button, and by-demand too. Basically TV on Tap. Can't complain really.

Now if only TelBru can get their act together and provide a stable connection so my TV show doesn't start and stop every 2 seconds.....

It's a bird, it's a plane, IT'S SUPERMAN flying
through the Tube to You

(cheesy, Yes I know)

at the moment, the top of my list is an aikido demonstration by steven seagal. all my friends are talking about it, but i just can't seem to watch it long enough to fully understand what it's about. arrghhhh!!!

Aikido is a martial arts that uses the flow and movement of the opponent against himself/herself. It is an extremely fluid martial arts, that is used for defense purposes only (ie you do not attack but wait to be attacked, the you counter). I;ve done a bit of it before and its popular amongst women cos you don't need strength. Steven Seagal in that video iss EXTREMELY good, he hardly uses any strength but I can tell you those moves will hurt his opponent like hell.... (joint locks, twisting, pressure points...trust me... it hurts like getting kicked in the n*ts..)

so an expert in aikido doesn't have attacking skills?

No no, I think they do, but their art revolves mostly around counter attacking and using the opponent's momentum against them. Example say someone's running at you with a knife. An Aikido expert would channel the attacker's momentum running towards him and redirect it so that the attacker ends up having his wrist twisted to the point of breaking!

VERY interesting martial arts .. wish I could take it up again..

my friends are learning it somewhere in serusop at the moment. it sounds like a lot of fun, but unfortunately, i work at night. i wouldn't mind being able to defend myself...
